Excellent。 I will read again and again

I was really excited to read this book because I thoroughly enjoy content from the social media page of Well Watered Women, but this book was not for me。 I was expecting more theology and deepness based on endorsements and reviews。 This book is fantastic for those who have not been believers very long, or older teenagers ready to learn more truths。 This book is theologically sound, but driven by metaphors that I sometimes did not relate too。 I was hoping for more scripture driven commentary。

Sharita

Such an inspiring, thoughtful, and encouraging book about being a well-watered woman who gets her source of life from God, not the culture or any self-imposed expectations or accomplishments。

Tanya

What a beautiful encouragement to Christian women in all seasons of life to fix their eyes on Jesus alone and to continually feast on His Word! 5 stars and definitely will reread when feeling dry and needing a boost of encouragement!

I was really excited for this one, but I ended up reading a few chapters before getting terribly bored。 Every page felt redundant: finding new, flowery ways to say the same thing。 I feel like there could have been fewer plant metaphors。。。it really distracted from the content。。。which was lacking as well。 There are three sections to this book: The Well, The Word, The Way。 After getting bored with the first few chapters of The Well, I flipped forward, hoping the other two sections had more of a mes I was really excited for this one, but I ended up reading a few chapters before getting terribly bored。 Every page felt redundant: finding new, flowery ways to say the same thing。 I feel like there could have been fewer plant metaphors。。。it really distracted from the content。。。which was lacking as well。 There are three sections to this book: The Well, The Word, The Way。 After getting bored with the first few chapters of The Well, I flipped forward, hoping the other two sections had more of a message。No。 It was the same thoughts, over and over。Not going anywhere。 Not showing the reader how to be better and not fall victim to being a dehydrated plant (or even a plant with its roots rotting)。 。。。more

Easy to listen to audio book。 I like when it's the author who is the narrator。 She incorporates the importance of being in God's word and uses Scripture to back up her points。 Her life scenarios are easy to relate to and I enjoyed listening to this book。 It's good for someone who is new to faith or how to get started reading God's Word。 Easy to listen to audio book。 I like when it's the author who is the narrator。 She incorporates the importance of being in God's word and uses Scripture to back up her points。 Her life scenarios are easy to relate to and I enjoyed listening to this book。 It's good for someone who is new to faith or how to get started reading God's Word。 。。。more

I am so glad this is one of the first books I read in 2022, as it has helped refresh my soul and remind me of Truth as we start the new year。 I appreciated Gretchen’s storytelling and how she weaved loads of Scripture throughout each chapter。 While I had heard most of these things before, it is always good to be reminded of the basics of our faith and how to live it out。

I loved the focus of the book on growing where God has you now。 Practical and challenging。 An enjoyable read。

Just very topical。 It seems like it was really just a collection of stories and anecdotes without really giving practical advice on pursuit of the Word。

This was one of the best Christian books I have ever read。 I absolutely loved it!

The Well-Watered Woman is beautiful in both writing and design。 Saffles laces plant and garden imagery throughout the book to depict a Christian's relationship with God。 If you are looking for a checklist or step-by-step instructions on how to be a "good Christian" and be amazing in every area of life, you won't find it in reading this book。 Instead, you will soak in the truth of God's Word as you read each chapter。 You will be encouraged to abandon a life of striving and surrender to the Lord's The Well-Watered Woman is beautiful in both writing and design。 Saffles laces plant and garden imagery throughout the book to depict a Christian's relationship with God。 If you are looking for a checklist or step-by-step instructions on how to be a "good Christian" and be amazing in every area of life, you won't find it in reading this book。 Instead, you will soak in the truth of God's Word as you read each chapter。 You will be encouraged to abandon a life of striving and surrender to the Lord's faithful work in your soul。 Each page reminds readers of the beauty of Christ and stirs their affections for Jesus。 Each chapter describes a principle of the well-watered woman and encourages readers to enjoy and reflect on the truth of God's character, His heart for His children, and His good plan for them。 。。。more

The Well Watered Woman stirred my affections for Jesus and reminded me that following him is a lifestyle, not merely a box to check off on my spiritual to-do list。 In this book, Gretchen Saffles points to Christ on every page and in doing so invites readers to look to him every moment of every day。

This book lacks depth and speaks too much in plant metaphors。 A little plant metaphors here and there would be okay but it was overdone。 A lot of the scriptural references are taken out of context。 Example 1: ch 1 talks about how it’s okay to not be okay as a Christian。 One section is on how basically it’s okay to not be okay because “things were not okay in the beginning” because acc to genesis 1:2 the earth was “without form and void…”。 What a sillllllly thought。 Example 2: ch 2 is about lies This book lacks depth and speaks too much in plant metaphors。 A little plant metaphors here and there would be okay but it was overdone。 A lot of the scriptural references are taken out of context。 Example 1: ch 1 talks about how it’s okay to not be okay as a Christian。 One section is on how basically it’s okay to not be okay because “things were not okay in the beginning” because acc to genesis 1:2 the earth was “without form and void…”。 What a sillllllly thought。 Example 2: ch 2 is about lies we believe over what we know is true according to scripture。 Great topic。 But the scripture to back up the fact that we should “bring the pain to him, and receive his promise of healing” is backed by Isaiah 53:5 which says “But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed。” This verse is clearly not referring to the kind of healing she is referring to。 An appropriate reference would’ve been Philippians 4:6-7 or 1 Peter 5:7 or Matthew 6:25-34。 There was faulty comparisons/references throughout the few chapters I read。 However, I appreciate the goal of the book and it’s emphasis on our need for devotion to the word and prayer in order to persist through life’s trials and pursue truth over lies from the devil, the world, or lies we tell ourselves。 。。。more

One of my top reads for 2021。 Such a rich and gentle reminder to having a deep relationship with the Lord on a daily basis。 The author doesn’t make you feel guilty for lack of relationship with the Lord, but rather encourages you in your daily walk。 So many great personal stories were shared, making you feel not alone。

This book was AMAZING! And CHALLENGING! I read it as part of an online Ladies Christian book club。 I would highly recommend this book。 Gretchen is open and honest about her struggles and how Jesus brought her through (and continues to do so)。。。。to help her (and us) flourish in this life through being grounded and rooted in the Word of God。

Like a lot of books of this nature, I gleaned a lot of good, whole nourishment from about the first five to six chapters or so。 And then, that's when it should've ended。 Sometimes, Biblical studies / books tend to go on for a bit longer than they need to, something I've seen across the board。 If you're new in your faith journey, this is definitely a good way to be reminded that the living water will be that which quenches your thirst。 It's also something that you can only say so many times, in s Like a lot of books of this nature, I gleaned a lot of good, whole nourishment from about the first five to six chapters or so。 And then, that's when it should've ended。 Sometimes, Biblical studies / books tend to go on for a bit longer than they need to, something I've seen across the board。 If you're new in your faith journey, this is definitely a good way to be reminded that the living water will be that which quenches your thirst。 It's also something that you can only say so many times, in so many different ways。 。。。more

This book was balm to my weary soul。 I spent five months reading this book and each time I picked it up I felt renewed。 It is such a good book and the Bible study that goes with it is great too。

I am so glad that I listened to this book。 I am not exactly a gardener, but I loved how the author applied garden growing principles to life。 Actually I think she sometimes struggled with growing things as well, so this added a lot of truth to what she learned in what did not work well。The Scriptures that she featured in this book were well organized。 This book is full of wisdom。 I appreciated the principles that she added and how I could apply the suggestions to my life。I must admit that this b I am so glad that I listened to this book。 I am not exactly a gardener, but I loved how the author applied garden growing principles to life。 Actually I think she sometimes struggled with growing things as well, so this added a lot of truth to what she learned in what did not work well。The Scriptures that she featured in this book were well organized。 This book is full of wisdom。 I appreciated the principles that she added and how I could apply the suggestions to my life。I must admit that this book did take me awhile to get through simply because I did not want to rush the lessons。 The author's narrator voice is calm and soothing, so listening to it at a faster speed did not work for me。 The book would be a great one to read, but I think that listening helped me to absorb the lessons better。 。。。more

It is clear when you read The Well-Watered Woman that Gretchen's heart is to share truths from her journey that will point women to Jesus。 The book is divided into three sections: The Well, The Word and The Way。 Before each section, Gretchen has written a poem that speaks so clearly to the heart of the reader。 I especially loved 'Every Hour' on page 109 that leads into The Word。 In the stanzas of that poem you will find: When I sing a brand new song,And when I bow my knees to pray, there is only It is clear when you read The Well-Watered Woman that Gretchen's heart is to share truths from her journey that will point women to Jesus。 The book is divided into three sections: The Well, The Word and The Way。 Before each section, Gretchen has written a poem that speaks so clearly to the heart of the reader。 I especially loved 'Every Hour' on page 109 that leads into The Word。 In the stanzas of that poem you will find: When I sing a brand new song,And when I bow my knees to pray, there is only one thing in me, that I have left to sayGive me Jesus every hour。Give me Jesus, Lord, I'll find, that when I let go of myselfin Christ I find my life。 。。。more

This book was exactly what I needed。 It was a great reminder that I need to be rooted in the word and draw from His truth for strength。 It was an encouragement。 I loved all of the symbolism in the book, that’s the best way that I learn and it was full of it as well as scripture and stories。 Will recommend to others
